Eating Disorders, Diabetes and Nutrition - how can we support?

 

Sarah Alicea is a Dietitian specialising in Diabetes and was part of the pilot project funded by NHS England to develop an integrated diabetes and mental health pathway for assessment and treatment of people with both type 1 diabetes and disordered eating.

 

Learning outcomes:

1. To understand the role of the Nutrition team within an MDT in identification and management of people with diabetes and eating disorders of all ages.

2. To highlight the nutritional considerations for the Nutrition team working with people with diabetes and an Eating Disorders 

3. To discuss a checklist of what to include with your Nutrition assessment and care plan.

4. To discuss a case example to highlight the Nutritional care that can support positive outcomes. 

 

About the speaker:

Sarah Alicea - Dietitian

Sarah is a Children and Young People's Diabetes Specialist Dietitian, University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and was part of the writing group for the Guidance on Recognising and Managing Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders.
