Learning Outcomes for the Webinar:
Recognise the unique presentation of eating disorders in men and boys compared to women and girls. Participants will learn to outline and identify the distinct ways eating disorders manifest in male clients, understanding the physiological, psychological, and behavioral differences. This recognition will enhance the ability to diagnose and treat eating disorders in men and boys effectively.
Understand the differences in nutritional needs and treatment between male and female service users. Attendees will gain knowledge of the evidence-based differences in nutritional requirements, such as energy, protein, fluid, and calcium needs, between male and female clients. This understanding will improve the capacity to tailor nutritional interventions to meet the specific needs of male service users.
Discuss barriers to service access for men and boys and strategies for dietitians and nutritionists to support overcoming these barriers. Participants will explore the common barriers that prevent men and boys from accessing eating disorder services and discuss practical strategies that dietitians and nutritionists can implement to support and encourage male clients to seek support and engage with this.
